IMT Ti6Al4V is a high-quality fine-dispersed powder of titanium alloy, designed for 3D printing using SLM and LPBF technologies, as well as other additive systems. It is used in medicine, dentistry, aerospace industry, motorsport, and precision engineering. Manufactured by plasma atomization, this powder provides exceptional purity, ideal sphericity, and stable mechanical characteristics of finished products. Thanks to the combination of low weight and high specific strength, the 15-53 μm fraction allows obtaining products with a density close to 100%, without additional processing. The material is supplied in hermetic containers of 5 kg, which reliably protect against oxidation and moisture.

Advantages of Ti6Al4V powder in 3D printing

  • High sphericity. Provides excellent powder flowability with a sphericity index of ≥93%, which is critically important for uniform and smooth application of layers in the recoater build chamber.

  • Controlled chemical composition. Completely prevents alloy brittleness and significantly improves weldability thanks to the minimal oxygen content of ≤900 ppm and nitrogen ≤0.02%.

Technological properties of Ti6Al4V powder

Metallic titanium powder from IMT is fully optimized for layer-by-layer laser melting. The spherical morphology of particles, obtained by plasma atomization and confirmed by SEM images, minimizes friction between them, ensuring flawless sintering quality. The alloy composition is precisely balanced in terms of aluminum and vanadium content to achieve the gold standard of strength and biocompatibility.

Considering the high chemical activity of titanium during laser heating, a titanium platform is necessarily used during 3D printing, and the presence of an inert argon-based environment is required in the printer chamber atmosphere. Unlike many analogs, this powder undergoes strict multi-stage quality control at each stage of atomization.
