Formlabs Alpha Black Resin for Form Studio 1, 1 liter is a black photopolymer resin from the Alpha Resins line, designed for printing models, prototypes, and other black products. The materials of this series are specifically designed for the Form Studio 1 3D printer. They are only compatible with this model and do not support work with Form 4/4B and Form 4L/4BL.

Main advantages of Alpha Black Resin

• Specifically for Form Studio 1. The Alpha Resins line is created for use with the corresponding 3D printer and is designed to work in its ecosystem.
• Two layer thickness modes. In the PreForm program, you can select print parameters of 50 or 100 microns depending on the requirements for the finished product.
• Compatibility with the standard tank. Form Studio 1 Resin Tank is optimized for Alpha Resins materials, ensuring fast printing and quality formation of supported surfaces.
• Automatic accounting of material consumption. During printing, Form Studio 1 tracks the amount of resin used and stores the corresponding data in the cartridge.
• Low odor level. According to Formlabs, Alpha Resins use components with a low odor level, making work with the material more comfortable indoors.

3D printing parameters

Alpha Black Resin is printed using the standard Form Studio 1 Resin Tank. There is no need to use the Resin Tank Pro, as the standard tank is specifically optimized for the entire Alpha Resins line.

The PreForm software provides two layer thickness options for Alpha Black Resin:

• 50 microns;
• 100 microns.

Post-processing of printed products

Alpha Resins materials are compatible with Formlabs Resin Washing Solution. For the Form Studio Wash+Cure system, a basic post-processing mode for Alpha Resins is provided: 5 minutes of washing and 5 minutes of polymerization.

After the print is finished, Form Studio 1 shows the recommended duration of washing and polymerization for a specific task, which helps to determine the parameters of further product processing.

Safety requirements

When working with liquid Alpha Black Resin, it is necessary to use gloves and follow the recommendations given in the safety passport of the corresponding material.

The combination of Form Studio 1, Alpha Resins, and VOC Extractor has UL GREENGUARD Gold certification, which confirms a low level of chemical emissions. The certification applies specifically to the mentioned combination of 3D printer, material, and filtration system.
