Formlabs Alpha Model Resin cartridge for Form Studio 1, 1 liter — is a gray photopolymer resin from the Alpha Resins series, specifically designed for the Form Studio 1 3D printer. The material supports individual print profiles in PreForm with a small layer thickness and is part of the standard list of materials compatible with this platform.

Alpha Model Resin print settings

For Alpha Model Resin, two layer thickness modes are available in the PreForm program: 30 microns and 50 microns. At the time of launch, these are the smallest layer thickness values among the Alpha Resins profiles specified for Form Studio 1.

Using such parameters allows to reduce the print step along the Z-axis, which is especially important for tasks where more accurate geometry reproduction is required in height.

Physical characteristics of the material

Alpha Model Resin version V1 has a density of 1.08 g/cm³ and a dynamic viscosity of 650 cP at 25 °C. The resin is supplied in a liquid state and has a gray color.

Compatibility with Form Studio 1

The standard Form Studio 1 Resin Tank is used to work with Alpha Model Resin, compatible with the entire Alpha Resins line. There is no need to use the Resin Tank Pro for this material.

During printing, Form Studio 1 automatically determines the resin consumption based on the number of printed layers and stores data about the used material in the cartridge.

Alpha Model Resin is specifically designed for Form Studio 1. The entire Alpha Resins line is not compatible with Form 4/4B and Form 4L/4BL printers.

Post-processing and safety

For cleaning printed parts from Alpha Model Resin, you can use the Formlabs Resin Washing Solution. The basic processing cycle of Alpha Resins materials in the Form Studio Wash+Cure system includes 5 minutes of washing and 5 minutes of polymerization.

After the print is completed, Form Studio 1 displays the recommended post-processing duration for a specific task.

Alpha Resins use components with a low odor level. When working with liquid resin, protective gloves should be used and the instructions in the material safety data sheet should be followed.

The Form Studio 1 + Alpha Resins + VOC Extractor system is certified UL GREENGUARD Gold, which relates to low levels of chemical emissions for this combination of equipment, material, and filtration system.
