Formlabs Fuse 1 Generation Upper Laser Window — is a replaceable element of the SLS printer's optical system, which protects the internal components of the laser tract from dust and other contaminants from the working chamber. The glass is installed between the printing area and the sensitive elements of the optics, helping to maintain the stable operation of the laser system.

Purpose of the protective glass

The Upper Laser Window serves as a barrier for the laser collimator, lens, and galvanometers. It reduces the risk of contaminants getting onto the optical components and helps maintain the correct passage and positioning of the laser beam during printing.

When replacement is needed

The glass is replaced in case of damage, wear, or if its condition negatively affects the operation of the optical system. As part of regular maintenance, Formlabs recommends cleaning the Upper Laser Window after every 1000 hours of printing.
