3D Printer CreatBot D400 HS
CreatBot D400 HS 3D Printer for Large Models and Advanced Materials
CreatBot D400 HS — is an FDM/FFF printer designed for producing large-scale prototypes, functional parts, and components from engineering materials, with a build volume of up to 420 × 400 × 420 mm, dual extruders, and an actively heated chamber up to 70 °C. The large build area allows large parts to be printed as a single piece, while the heated chamber helps provide more stable printing conditions for materials prone to warping. The dual extruders allow the use of a second material or support material. The maximum printing speed is 600 mm/s, with a volumetric flow rate of up to 90 mm³/s, which is especially important when producing large models.
Advantages of CreatBot D400 HS
- Printing large parts without splitting the model. The 420 × 400 × 420 mm build volume when using a single extruder allows large-scale prototypes and functional parts to be produced as a single piece. For dual-material printing, a build volume of 365 × 400 × 420 mm is available.
- Working with two materials. Two extruders allow different materials to be combined or a separate support material to be used during a single printing cycle.
- Stable conditions for engineering polymers. The actively heated chamber up to 70 °C helps maintain a uniform temperature around the model and reduce the risk of warping and delamination in large parts.
- High productivity when printing large models. A speed of up to 600 mm/s combined with a volumetric flow rate of up to 90 mm³/s allows a significant amount of material to be extruded, which is especially important when producing large parts.
- Less manual setup. Automatic bed leveling and calibration of the relative position of the two nozzles reduce the number of operations that need to be performed manually before printing.
Design and Technological Features
- Dual extruders with automatic lifting. CreatBot D400 HS is equipped with two extruders, with the inactive nozzle automatically lifting above the printing area. The maximum nozzle temperature is 420 °C, while the maximum material volumetric flow rate is 90 mm³/s. According to the manufacturer, heating up to 400 °C takes approximately 2 minutes.
- Interchangeable nozzles of different diameters. The design allows quick replacement of the heating assembly. The standard nozzle diameter is 0.6 mm, while the manufacturer also specifies compatibility with 0.3, 0.4, 0.8, and 1.0 mm nozzles.
- Automatic nozzle shutter. The Dual Nozzle Shutter system mechanically closes the inactive extruder nozzle after it is lifted. This helps reduce uncontrolled leakage of molten material and prevents it from entering the printing area while the second extruder is operating.
- Actively heated chamber. The enclosed build chamber maintains a temperature of up to 70 °C, while double-layer thermal insulation helps maintain stable temperature conditions. This is especially important when printing large parts from ABS, ASA, nylon, PC, and reinforced materials that are prone to warping due to uneven cooling.
- Chamber heating control algorithm. To compensate for temperature-related changes in the printer structure, the manufacturer uses a dedicated heating control algorithm that takes conditions inside the build chamber into account.
- Aluminum build platform. The platform is made of aerospace-grade aluminum and equipped with a removable magnetic surface, making it easier to remove finished parts. The maximum platform temperature is 120 °C.
- External cooling system. A separate air pump is used to cool the model, providing stable airflow in the printing area.
- Air filtration. The filtration system combines a HEPA filter and activated carbon. The HEPA filter captures fine particles, while activated carbon helps absorb volatile organic compounds and odors that may be generated during printing.
Functionality and Automation
- Automatic bed leveling. A non-contact eddy current sensor is used to monitor the position of the build surface. The manufacturer specifies a system measurement accuracy of up to 0.001 mm. The non-contact operating principle eliminates mechanical contact between the sensor and the surface during scanning.
- Automatic dual-nozzle calibration. An HD camera with visual recognition is used to correct the relative position of the nozzles along the X and Y axes, while two photoelectric sensors are used for the Z axis. This reduces the number of manual operations required before dual-material printing.
- Filament runout detection. The sensor monitors material availability and pauses printing if the filament runs out, allowing the user to install a new spool and continue the print.
- Backup use of the second extruder. If the material in the first extruder runs out, the printer can switch to the second extruder and continue printing.
- Power loss recovery. In the event of an unexpected power outage, the printer saves information about the current state of the job and allows printing to resume from the stopping point once power is restored.
- 7-inch touchscreen display. The screen is used to control the printer's main parameters and monitor the printing process.
- File transfer via USB, Wi-Fi, and LAN. Users can transfer prepared files in different ways depending on their workflow organization.
- Operation via local network. The D400 HS can operate without an internet connection. Through a local network, prepared files can be transferred, equipment can be controlled, and firmware can be updated.
- Remote print monitoring. The built-in camera allows users to remotely monitor the model production process.
