Bambu Lab AMS HT (Automatic Material System) — is an intelligent system for automatic feeding, thermal preparation, and secure storage of filament, designed to work not only with standard but also with demanding engineering materials. The device combines drying at temperatures up to 85 °C, hermetic storage of the coil, automatic loading, and switching of the filament directly during printing. For the stable operation of the feed mechanism, a brushless servo drive is used, and RFID marking of Bambu Lab coils allows automatic determination of material parameters. Additionally, Filament Odometry is provided for controlling the length of the supplied filament and a separate Bypass Filament Outlet for materials that require an alternative feed route. Thanks to the possibility of cascading connection of AMS HT modules, the system can work with configurations up to 24 colors or materials.

High-temperature drying filament preparation
AMS HT is designed for materials that require careful moisture removal before printing. The maximum drying temperature is 85 °C, so the system is suitable for a wide range of engineering and technical filaments. For different types of plastic, corresponding thermal preparation modes are provided, which allows adapting the drying process to the characteristics of a specific material.
Comprehensive drying technology
The process of filament preparation is implemented using several interconnected functions. AMS HT heats the internal space, rotates the coil in Rotating Drying Mode, and provides Active Moisture Discharge for moisture removal. This approach promotes more uniform heating of the entire coil. After drying, the material can remain inside the system under protected storage conditions.
Airflow control
For drying process control, an Electromagnetic Air Vent is provided in the design. It participates in regulating the air flow according to the system's operating algorithms, helping to maintain the necessary conditions inside the AMS HT chamber.
Protection against re-absorption of moisture
After thermal treatment, the filament does not need to be immediately moved to a separate container. AMS HT can be used as a hermetic storage for the coil, limiting the material's contact with the surrounding air. This is especially important for hygroscopic plastics, the properties of which can deteriorate due to moisture absorption.
Information display
The system status can be controlled directly through the built-in display. It displays the current temperature and humidity inside AMS HT, as well as the time remaining until the end of the drying program. The user receives up-to-date information about the process without the need to constantly open the case or use additional software.
Reliable feed mechanism
A brushless servo drive is used for automated filament transport. It is responsible for the operation of the feed mechanism and provides automatic switching between installed materials according to the current 3D printing task.
RFID coil recognition
When installing a compatible Bambu Lab coil with an RFID tag, the system can automatically read information about the filament. This reduces the number of manual operations before printing and simplifies the preparation of equipment for working with different materials.
Working with multiple materials
AMS HT is part of the Bambu Lab ecosystem and supports cascading connection of several systems. In such a configuration, you can access 24 colors or types of filament, between which the system automatically switches according to the set model and print parameters.
