Brief description of the set components

IDEX printer for engineering 3D printing

The Raise3D E3 is equipped with two independent IDEX extruders and has a working area of 330 × 240 × 240 mm when printing with one head and 295 × 240 × 240 mm in dual extruder mode. Students can manufacture housings, assembly components, mechanism parts, and prototypes from primary and auxiliary materials. Automatic platform leveling simplifies preparation for the lesson, and the filament sensor and power outage recovery reduce the risk of losing the result of long printing.

Auxiliary device for feeding flexible filament Raise3D

The auxiliary device creates a stable feed channel and buffer for the elastic filament. In combination with Raise3D E3, it supports working with flexible materials with a hardness of 80A–95A Shore, including TPU-80A, TPU-90A, and TPU-95A, and helps to print parts at speeds up to 200 mm/s. This reduces the time to produce educational samples and reduces the risk of bending or jamming of the soft filament in the feed system.

Print heads for composite materials

The left and right heads are equipped with 0.6 mm silicon carbide nozzles. Such nozzles are better adapted to work with abrasive filaments, including materials with carbon fiber, which can quickly wear out standard brass nozzles. The left print head is equipped with an automatic leveling unit, which simplifies platform setup before printing. In the educational laboratory, this set allows exploring the features of working with engineering and composite plastics.

TPU-95A for flexible parts

Raise3D Premium TPU-95A is a flexible and resilient filament with properties similar to rubber. Students can use it to print shock absorbers, seals, protective pads, flexible joints, tires for models, and parts with a soft contact surface. The material helps to practically explore elasticity, deformation, shock absorption, and shape recovery after loading.

PET CF for rigid functional products

Raise3D Hyper Speed PET CF contains carbon fiber, which increases the rigidity, strength, and shape stability of printed parts. The material has low moisture absorption, chemical resistance, and heat resistance above 110 °C. It can be used to manufacture brackets, housings, mounting elements, equipment, and loaded components of student prototypes. The filament is suitable for STEM projects where it is necessary not only to demonstrate the model but also to test it during practical work.

PET filament for printing supports

Industrial PET Support is used as a tear-off support material during printing of parts from PET CF and other reinforced filaments. It helps to form large overhangs, internal cavities, and complex surfaces that are difficult to print without additional support. After printing is completed, the supports can be removed mechanically without dissolving in water. This allows students to create more complex geometry and get a cleaner surface at the points of contact with the support.

Ideas for lessons and STEM projects

  • Materials Science: comparison of the rigidity of PET CF and the elasticity of TPU-95A on samples of the same shape.
  • Physics: study of deformation, elasticity, shock absorption, and behavior of parts under load.
  • Robotics: printing of rigid brackets, electronics housings, flexible wheels, protective pads, and shock absorbers.
  • Mechatronics: manufacturing of mechanism parts with different properties and their further assembly into one system.
  • Engineering Design: creation of products with complex cavities and overhangs using tear-off support material.
  • Technologies: selection of filament according to the function of the part, preparation of the print profile, and evaluation of the finished result.
  • Industry 4.0 Project: development of a digital model, printing of a functional prototype, testing, and making changes to the design.

Ready STEM solution for your institution

The Raise3D E3 Full Package allows you to supplement the STEM laboratory or FabLab digital workshop with tools for working with flexible, composite, and auxiliary materials. The set is suitable for educational institutions that plan to conduct in-depth classes in engineering design, robotics, mechatronics, and modern manufacturing technologies. If your educational institution needs a set of a different configuration, review the STEM solutions for educational institutions or contact our managers. 3DDevice specialists will help to form a set according to educational programs, the level of student preparation, planned STEM projects, and the institution's budget.
