Printing with Technical and Fiber-Filled Materials
Centauri Carbon 2 is equipped with a high-temperature hardened steel nozzle that heats up to 350 °C, a platform with a temperature of up to 110 °C, and an enclosed build chamber. This configuration makes it possible to work not only with PLA, PETG, and TPU, but also with materials that require higher operating temperatures. The printer supports PC, PET, and fiber-filled filaments. The maximum volumetric material flow is 32 mm³/s.
The enclosed chamber is equipped with an automatically controlled ventilation grille, which helps maintain the required temperature conditions in the build chamber for different materials.
CoreXY with Speeds up to 500 mm/s
CoreXY kinematics provides printing speeds of up to 500 mm/s and maximum acceleration of 20,000 mm/s². Two 4260-size stepper motors are responsible for movement along the X and Y axes, while low-friction metal guides ensure smooth movement of the printhead.
The rigid integrated cast aluminum frame and chassis reduce the effect of vibrations during fast movements. The semi-automatic belt tensioner helps maintain the required tension without complicated manual adjustment.
Automatic Calibration and First Layer Control
Centauri Carbon 2 automates the main operations before printing begins. The system performs automatic calibration and platform leveling, while Auto Z Offset determines the required distance between the nozzle and the surface for forming the first layer. 121 measurement points are used for leveling.
Pressure Advance calibration and active vibration compensation are also provided. These functions help more accurately control filament feeding and printhead movement during speed changes. The double-sided flexible platform simplifies the removal of finished models after printing is complete.
18 Sensors for Print Process Monitoring
Centauri Carbon 2 uses a system of 18 sensors that monitor various components and stages of printer operation. It supports feed path clog detection, filament runout monitoring, cutter and ventilation grille status checks, fan self-diagnostics, and model cooling fan monitoring.
Platform overheating protection and print recovery after power loss are also provided, helping reduce the risk of losing an unfinished part due to a power outage.
Air Filtration and Enclosed Design
The built-in air purification system combines a HEPA filter and coconut shell activated carbon. The filtration is designed to capture ultrafine particles, volatile organic compounds, and odors that may be generated when working with filaments.
The transparent door allows the printing process to be observed. The glass is supplemented with a protective film that reduces the risk of fragments scattering if it is damaged.
Convenient Control and Maintenance
A 5-inch touchscreen display is provided for controlling the printer. The magnetic printhead cover makes it easier to access the nozzle during maintenance or component replacement.
A silicone cleaner resistant to temperatures of 350 °C is used for cleaning the nozzle. The design is also supplemented with a semi-automatic belt tensioner, which simplifies regular maintenance of the mechanics.
Elegoo Software Ecosystem
Centauri Carbon 2 integrates into the Elegoo software ecosystem, which includes Nexprint, ElegooSlicer, and ELEGOO Matrix. The Nexprint library is connected to ElegooSlicer, allowing models to be found, downloaded, and transferred for print preparation within the ecosystem.
Multicolor Printing Capability with CANVAS
Centauri Carbon 2 is prepared for connection to the Elegoo CANVAS system, which expands the printer's capabilities for multicolor printing. The CANVAS system is not included in the standard Centauri Carbon 2 package and is purchased separately.
This allows the printer to be used initially in the basic configuration and, if necessary, later supplemented with the CANVAS system for multicolor printing.
Applications
The combination of a 256 × 256 × 256 mm build volume, high-temperature nozzle, enclosed chamber, and support for different filament types makes it possible to use Centauri Carbon 2 for a wide range of tasks.
The printer is suitable for:
- functional prototypes;
