3D metal powder Frontier TC4 15–53 µm, 2.5 kg
Frontier TC4 15–53 μm - is a spherical Ti6Al4V titanium alloy powder for metal 3D printing using SLM technology. The material contains titanium, aluminium and vanadium. The particle size is 15–53 μm. The powder is intended for manufacturing structural parts, housings, brackets and functional prototypes. It is used in mechanical engineering, the aviation industry and robotics.
Advantages of Frontier TC4 titanium powder
- Even application of the powder layer. The spherical shape of the particles makes it easier to distribute the material across the build platform of an SLM printer and reduces mechanical interlocking between particles.
- Fraction for selective laser melting. A particle size of 15–53 μm corresponds to the intended use of the material for metal 3D printing. The compatibility of the fraction must be checked against the requirements of the specific equipment.
- Strong Ti6Al4V titanium alloy. Aluminium and vanadium influence the phase composition and mechanical properties of the alloy. The characteristics of printed parts depend on the SLM printing parameters and subsequent processing.
- Manufacturing parts with complex geometry. SLM technology makes it possible to print components with internal channels, cavities and intricate structural elements.
- Production of functional prototypes. The powder is suitable for manufacturing experimental metal parts, verifying designs and assembling mechanical units.
Chemical composition and properties of Ti6Al4V titanium alloy
Frontier TC4 belongs to titanium alloys of the Ti-Al-V system. The base of the material is titanium with additions of aluminium and vanadium. The iron content is limited to 0.25%. The main components of the alloy:
- Titanium Ti. The main metal of the alloy, characterised by low density compared with steel.
- Aluminium Al. Stabilises the alpha phase of titanium and influences the strength of the material.
- Vanadium V. Stabilises the beta phase and influences the structure of the alloy after heat treatment.
- Iron Fe. A controlled impurity with a maximum permissible content of 0.25%.
The density of the alloy is approximately 4.5 g/cm³, and the melting point is 1600–1660 °C. The stated values characterise the material and do not determine the bulk density of the powder or the mechanical properties of finished products.
Use of Ti6Al4V titanium powder in industry
Frontier TC4 titanium powder is intended for the additive manufacturing of metal parts. The material is used in the following industries:
- Aviation industry. Manufacturing lightweight brackets, mounting elements, fasteners and parts for unmanned aerial vehicles.
- Automotive industry. Printing structural components, connecting elements and experimental parts.
- Robotics. Production of housings, brackets, mechanism parts and robotic systems.
- Mechanical engineering. Manufacturing functional prototypes, components of mechanical units and parts with complex geometry.
- Dental manufacturing. Development of experimental denture frameworks, bars and other structures. Clinical use of finished products requires verification of compliance with medical requirements.
Compatibility of Frontier TC4 with metal SLM 3D printers
Ti6Al4V powder is intended for selective laser melting of metals. During SLM printing, a laser melts specified areas of the powder layer in accordance with the 3D model of the part.
Before printing, it is necessary to check the permissible powder fraction, the requirements for the material feed system and the availability of process parameters for the Ti6Al4V alloy. The quality of the products is affected by laser power, scanning speed, layer thickness, protective atmosphere and heat treatment.
