PLA (polylactide) is an eco-friendly, biodegradable plastic derived from renewable resources like corn. Its physical characteristics are similar to ABS, being a hard and brittle polymer, but with even greater stiffness. Plexiwire PLA stands out due to its minimal shrinkage and excellent interlayer adhesion, comparable to ABS+. Models printed with Plexiwire PLA adhere well to the print bed even without heating, resulting in high-quality models with ease.

Due to its biodegradable nature, PLA has a limited lifespan. Plexiwire PLA is not recommended for models exposed to prolonged outdoor conditions, sunlight, or acids, as thin-walled models may degrade quickly. Like all thermoplastics, Plexiwire PLA should be properly dried before use to ensure optimal results. A key advantage of this material is its safety during use. It emits no harmful substances when heated and has no unpleasant odor, making it an excellent choice for home printing, poorly ventilated spaces, or environments with children. Additionally, PLA is ideal for use with 3D pens.
