Elegoo Centauri 2 Combo — is an FDM printer designed for fast production of single- and multicolor models, with the CANVAS system for printing in up to four colors, a build volume of 256 × 256 × 256 mm, and CoreXY kinematics. A speed of up to 500 mm/s, fully automatic calibration, and a system of 22 sensors simplify equipment preparation and process monitoring during printing.

Multicolor Printing with the CANVAS System

Elegoo Centauri 2 Combo comes with the CANVAS system, which enables printing in up to four colors within a single model. The design shortens the filament path and separately controls the feeding mechanisms, allowing the system to change material faster during multicolor printing.

For Elegoo filaments with RFID tags, automatic detection of material type and color is provided. The automatic feed continuation function allows switching to another spool with the same filament when the material on the current spool runs out.

The system also monitors material tangling and pauses printing when it is detected. Updated spool holders rewind unused filament, maintaining its tension during operation.

Automatic Calibration and 22 Monitoring Sensors

Centauri 2 Combo automates the main preparation stages before printing. Four-point automatic leveling is available, as well as partial leveling of only the area of the platform where the model will be placed. Partial mode can reduce leveling time by up to 75%.

The Auto Z Offset function automatically calibrates the nozzle height relative to the build surface to form a stable first layer. Active vibration compensation and Pressure Advance calibration help maintain surface quality during fast printhead movements.

The printer uses 22 sensors that monitor various stages of equipment operation. Monitoring functions include clog detection, filament runout notification, checking the condition of the cutting mechanism and fans, monitoring the model cooling fan, protecting the platform from overheating, and resuming printing after power loss.

CoreXY, Speed, and Rigid Construction

CoreXY kinematics uses two 4260-size stepper motors for movement along the X and Y axes. The maximum speed is 500 mm/s, while the recommended speed is 250 mm/s. Standard acceleration is 10,000 mm/s², and the maximum is 20,000 mm/s².

The rigid cast aluminum frame and metal linear guides are designed for stable mechanism movement at high speeds. The semi-automatic belt tensioner helps maintain proper tension and reduce vibrations.

Nozzle up to 350 °C and Double-Sided Build Plate

Centauri 2 Combo is equipped with a 0.4 mm nozzle that heats up to 350 °C. The maximum build platform temperature is 110 °C at an ambient temperature of 25 °C. The filament diameter used is 1.75 mm.

The build platform measures 260 × 260 mm and comes with a double-sided spring steel sheet: one side has a textured PEI coating, while the other has a surface designed for PLA. The flexible plate design makes it easier to remove finished models.

The magnetic printhead cover provides quick access to the nozzle for replacement. A silicone nozzle cleaner resistant to temperatures of 350 °C is provided for cleaning.

Software and Connectivity

The printer supports connection via USB and Wi-Fi. ElegooSlicer is recommended for model preparation, while Orca and Cura are also supported. Supported input formats include STL, OBJ, 3MF, and STEP, while the output format is G-code.

Through Nexprint, users can work with a library of ready-made 3D models and transfer selected files to ElegooSlicer for print preparation. The printer's main functions are controlled through a 5-inch touchscreen display.

Material Compatibility

PLA, PETG, PLA-CF, and TPU are recommended for Centauri 2 Combo. ABS/ABS-CF, ASA/ASA-CF, PET/PET-CF, PETG-CF, PA/PA-CF, and PC materials are not recommended for this model.

To use TPU with the Combo version, the Flexible Filament Adapter must be installed. The adapter model file and installation instructions are included on the supplied USB drive. Before printing with TPU, the CANVAS cable must be disconnected.

The Centauri 2 Combo spool holders are designed for an inner diameter of 53–58 mm. For spools with a larger inner diameter, a printed adapter is required.
